Fondane e la vertigine dell’assurdo La domenica della storia nella Metropoli della Morte

L’ultimo scritto di Benjamin Fondane, Le lundi existentiel et le dimanche de l’histoire , è una lucida e lancinante disamina della crudele spettacolo dell’angosciante  e tetra  domenica della storia e  fu consegnato per la pubblicazione nella raccolta di saggi L’Existence nel febbraio del 1944 qualche giorno prima del suo arresto da parte della Gestapo. Al fine di  diventare un’eccezione, l’esistente deve fare esperienza di  quel lunedì esistenziale che si pone  oltre l’interminabile  domenica della storia.  E’ proprio l’idea, l’ossessione, la voce estranea del grande Lunedì esistenziale che rende la Domenica della storia così tetra, così angosciante, così interminabile, così  impaziente di proclamare la propria serietà minacciosa. La Domenica della storia, quale inveramento ideale e irreale dell’Apocalisse della noia,  scaglia i suoi «ussari dalle sciabole scintillanti» contro coloro che hanno una viva e lancinante  percezione  del  suo nulla e che considerano la sua impresa crudele contro l’esistente come una Zauberkraft , come la  forza magica più difficile da disincantare e da detronizzare  perché riposa sul nulla.

The last written of Benjamin Fondane, Le lundi existentiel et le dimanche de l’histoire, is a lucid and searing examination of the cruel spectacle of distressing  and dreary Sunday of history and was delivered for publication in the collection of essays L’ Existence in February 1944, a few days before his arrest by the Gestapo. To become an exception, the Existing must experience that existential Monday, arising over the unending Sunday of the history. This is the idea, the obsession, the stranger voice of the great existential Monday that makes the Sunday of the history that bleak, that distressing, that endless, that eager to proclaim its menacing seriousness.

The Sunday of the history, is an ideal and unreal-fulfilment of a boredom Revelation, throws his “hussars from the sparkling swords” against those who have a living, a throbbing perception of his ‘nothing’ and who consider his cruel enterprise against the existing, as an Zauberkraft, as the most difficult magic force to be disenchanted and dethroned, because it rests on nothing.
